HOW TO OVERCOME
Sinful desires can pull us away from God, and sin separates us from God. The devil cannot get God to give up on you, so he will try to get you to give up on God. When that desire then pulls us away from God, it also drags us away from power and authority.
As Christians, our responsibility is to cast out the devil, and when we stand in authority, we can rebuke other Christians. God is the one who rebukes the devil, and we should resist the devil. The Word says that all scripture is profitable for reproof and correction. As with all things in life, we cannot grow if we don’t know what we need to improve. Therefore, when we get rebuked by God, it is for our good and growth.
Often, we try to rebuke the devil for something that is our own choice. The devil can’t make us sin, so he makes us want to. God cannot be tempted by evil; He has no desire for evil. God has complete revelation and cannot be tempted by what He is in charge of.
The reason we don’t overcome might be because we lack maturity. Through trials, we should allow perseverance to complete its work in us to become more mature. Jesus didn’t rebuke the devil in the wilderness. Instead, in maturity, He answered him with understanding.
We should therefore submit ourselves to God and resist the devil so that we can overcome.
