The Church as the Body

God is the head of the body, and we are created part of Christ’s body (Col. 1:18). The body of Christ forms the church, and we should be part of God’s church to benefit from what the church has to offer. As Christians, we all form part as living stones to build His church.

A living stone is built in, sustainable and unshakeable. As living stones, we should surrender ourselves as vessels to God and know He’ll build us into something beautiful (1 Pet. 2:5). Jesus is the builder of His church, and He uses us to build a spiritual house for all people. As we come together, each of us as living stones, we are built into something more significant through the power of Jesus Christ. Individually we are not the church, but as a collective group of believers, we form part of the church of God (1 Cor. 12:27).

The foundation of God’s church is His Son, Jesus Christ, the rock (Matt. 16:18). Being connected to God’s church grows your spiritual life; therefore, we need each other in the body of Christ if we want to grow spiritually and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.

We don’t just belong to God but to one another in the body of Christ. You are part of the church if you are part of the body of Christ. Each member of the body of Christ has something to offer to the edification of the church. To be in Christ is to be in Christ’s body and be part of His church for the church is paramount to your walk with God.
