washing hands

“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Sam. 16:7)

We live in a world that is so focused on what goes on around us that we get distracted from running after God’s heart. What does it benefit us if our hands are washed clean, but our hearts are far from God? Carrying the external signs of sanctification but defiled in our inner being.

“Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also?” (Luk. 11:39-40)

Before we look to perfect our external lives, our business, finances, hobbies and even friends, we must look to Him to align our internal being with the Kingdom of God. Only then can that which we touch externally, also be for the Glory of God.

The Bible teaches us that what speak outwardly, comes from what we believe internally (Prov. 23:7). Your relationship with God will influence what you believe He can do through you.

The world’s perspective of a qualified person is different from what God sees as qualified. God is seeking those that will humble themselves before Him, seek to be in right standing with Him, before we try to stand right in the eyes of the world.
